Visa Process (F1 Visa)

The F1 Visa is a non-immigrant student visa that allows international students to study full-time at a SEVP-approved university or college in the United States. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for a successful application.

Post-Study Work Opportunities

OPT (12–36 months)

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a valuable opportunity for international students in the USA to gain hands-on work experience in their field of study after graduation. Students from non-STEM courses can work for up to 12 months, while those in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields are eligible for a 24-month extension—offering a total of 36 months of work authorization. OPT helps students apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios and often serves as a stepping stone to long-term employment.

H-1B Visa Pathway

The H-1B visa is a highly sought-after non-immigrant work visa that allows U.S. companies to employ foreign graduates in specialty occupations. After completing OPT, many students transition to the H-1B route, which enables them to continue working legally in the United States. This visa not only supports career advancement but also opens the door to long-term residency and further professional opportunities in the U.S. job market.
